Adoptable Animals

We are a small foster care organization. This means we do not have a public shelter and our adoptable animals are housed by volunteers.

Most of our adoptable animals are rescued from high-kill rural shelters in Northeast Georgia. We do take a limited number of animals from individuals who choose to relinquish their pets. Because animals are considered property under Georgia law, we do not take stray animals from areas with animal control.

Find a Pet Online

Most of our adoptable animals are listed on our shelter webpage on Petfinder.com. This site is maintained to the best of our abilities by our volunteers, and there may be some delay in the listing and removal of our adoptable animals.

If you are looking for a specific type of pet please feel free to contact us. We'll let you know if we feel if any our animals would be a good match for your household.

Adoption Events at Petsmart

Of course, the best way to see our animals is in person. Our weekly adoption events are held at the Petsmart on Venture Drive in Duluth from 12-5pm every Saturday.  If you are interested in a specific animal, please contact us to make sure they will be attending the event.

Application Process

We have an application that asks for general information about your family, lifestyle, and current pets. We DO NOT discriminate based on age or race. Click here to view our adoption application

While we do not have a list of specific requirements for adoption, we reserve the right to deny any applicant, and each of our foster homes is at liberty to set guidelines that may vary for each pet.

Adoption Fees and Agreement

Our adoption fee is non-refundable. In some situations, a foster parent may wish to offer a 'trial period', during which an animal may be returned for a full refund.

We require, by contract, that any animal adopted from our group be returned to us if the adopter is no longer willing or able to care for it. If you have adopted an animal from Leftover Pets that you are no longer able to keep, please contact animal's foster parent. You can also contact us here.
